How We Cope

May 23, 2017 rachelcheriebakerLeave a comment

Last week a 6-year-old Alabama boy is murdered in the backseat of his Mother’s stolen car. Yesterday a home-made bomb maims and kills over twenty people. From the cozy interior of my Utah home life hasn’t changed. But it has. It does. The weight of life’s seemingly endless cruelty and senselessness can be together all… Continue reading How We Cope

Acknowledging Sad

August 2, 2016August 3, 2016 rachelcheriebaker7 Comments

I looked at the dish. My hands shaking as they held the pieces. I looked at my son. As calmly as I could, looked at my husband and said “I need some time.” In my room I closed my eyes and let the tears flow. It was true. Mommy was sad.

My Computer Doesn’t Know

Because what my computer doesn’t know is that you’ve been gone now for two years. My computer doesn’t know how aggressive your skin cancer was. My computer doesn’t know that we stayed up late with you in your last days, that we stood over you hand in hand praying, that we whispered into your ear “it’s okay, now, let go.”

February Love, February Grief

February 16, 2016August 1, 2016 rachelcheriebakerLeave a comment

February is one of my favorite months out of the year. At the beginning of the month we celebrate my son’s birth, at the end of the month we celebrate my daughters’, mid-month we celebrate my favorite made up holiday, which justifies eating lots of dark chocolate and heart-shaped cookies. But in the midst of all… Continue reading February Love, February Grief

This sweet little thing turns 4 tomorrow. How is that even possible?⁣ ⁣ Everyday with her is dress up and a tea party. I carry her fairy wings around when we run errands, taking them off for the car ride and putting them back on when we arrive at our destination. ⁣ ⁣ People ask us if it’s a special occasion, and we say yes, everyday with her is a special occasion. ⁣ ⁣ Every Day is a Special Occasion. ⁣ ⁣ Seeing life through her eyes reminds me of that. ⁣ ⁣ Happy birthday baby girl. I love you bigger than my body, to the moon and right back again. 💕💕⁣ ⁣ #happybirthday #sweetemmacherie #everydaymagic #letthembelittle #wildandwhimsy #sheisbrave ⁣#youngandfree #momlife #myadventure #shewritestruth #parenting #gratitude #chasingslow #sweetandsimple #mydarling ⁣
I’m so excited for my first weekend at LifePoint Church! ⁣ ⁣ Tomorrow at 8:30, 10 and 11:30am I get to join @kilebaker as he continues the series: The Struggle is Real. ⁣ ⁣ This week we tackle a mega giant topic... LOVE, and address some pretty deep questions like, “how do you stay in love when you don’t feel in love?”⁣ ⁣ Looking forward to seeing you in the morning and if you can’t join me in the flesh stand by for our recording. ⁣ ⁣ #loveactually #thestruggleisreal #feelingvsfacts #chooselove #loveisachoice ⁣#love #john316 #howwelove #loveafterkids #pastorswife #ministry #carsonvalley ⁣

Kile Baker. Happy Valentine’s Day. I love you more than words and am so thankful I get to share this life with you. Xoxo
Today was filled with some big goodbyes. ⁣ ⁣ I will forever be thankful to the people that make this building a community. You have been my sanctuary over the last 9 months. ⁣ ⁣ Saying goodbye to this school and to a job that has filled me with such purpose is, well, heartbreaking. ⁣ ⁣ The kids and I have been talking a lot about this big move. We agreed to allow each other to feel it all, to cry if need be, to have some bad days. ⁣ ⁣ And we have, but we’ve also agreed that our grief in leaving this season of our lives in no way diminishes the joy we know we will experience as we begin the next season. ⁣ ⁣ Thank you Intermountain Christian School for being home this school year. Thank you friends in SLC for loving on us, it’s because we have been so loved that leaving hurts so bad. And yet there will be joy... ⁣ ⁣ #joy #thankful #weareics #greatschool #movingtime #gratitude #pastorswife #pastorswifelife #pastorswifeperspective #ministry #christianeducation #saltlakecity #saltlakecityutah #utahisrad #lifeelevated #beutahful #goodbyes #goodbyesarehard @intermountainchristianschool 💕
You are filled with story. Your life is your content. ⁣ ⁣ Use it my friend, tell your story. Your story can bring freedom, wisdom, maybe even life.⁣ ⁣ Today I want to highlight my friend Shannon Barbosa, a fellow SheSpeaksStudio Alum, who is bravely sharing her story. She’s not the only friend I have who chose to walk the difficult path of teenage pregnancy. I encourage you all to speak loud, use your voices. Talk about those difficult subjects, you chose life, this is your time, this is your platform. ⁣ ⁣ #chooselife #shespeaksstudio18 #shespeaksstudio #shespeakstruth #gritandgrace #gritandgrace #everylifematters @shannbar @proverbs31ministries #bringfreedom #bebrave #bebravemomma #yougotthis @fromtheruins__
